Find a Harp Teacher
Before you start loking for a harp teacher for you or your child it will be useful learn what type of teachers can be. Target of this article is to study difficulties of finding good harp teacher and find harp.
Music Teachers: What Do They Do?:
As you might have guessed, music teachers teach music! But that teaching can take on many different forms. Some are vocal coaches, some harp teacher teach instruments, some teach music theory, and some do a mixture of different types of teaching. Some harp teachers are tied to a school or a business and some teach music autonomously.
Harp Teachers in Schools:
Most of us have had experience with these kinds of harp teachers. As a school based harp teacher, you will rove from classroom to classroom providing harp instruction. The precise program you cover will be dictated by the school district and the grade levels with which you are working. Usually there is a heavy emphasis on techniques instruction and music theory.
Some schools have elective music classes that go a little deeper into music - teaching instruments, working more on music theory, and so on. Harp teachers may also be responsible for devising school musical productions and/or coaching the school band.
Harp Teachers in Businesses:
Some music instrument shops have in-house music teachers. This set-up can work in a few different ways:
- Independent music teachers may "rent" space in the shop, like an independent hair dresser rents salon space, and set their own prices.
- Workers in the shop may teach music on the side in the shop and share income with the business
- The business has dedicated music teachers on staff
Again, these music teachers may handle vocal instruction, instrument instruction or all of the above. Lessons may be private or group.
Private Harp Teachers/Independent Music Teachers:
As mentioned in the sector above, from time to time, independent music teachers can work in a specific place, renting out space. Other times, private harp teachers travel to the homes their students or teach lessons out of their own home. In terms of the subject matter, working as a private harp tutor is the same as working in a school or business - you can teach whatever aspect of music you have the most skill and feel comfy teaching. The difference is that these harp teachers are self employed. Sometimes, private music teachers teach music as a second job, and some do these work full time. Some schools have elective music classes that go a little deeper into music - teaching instruments, working more on music theory, and so on. Harp teachers may also be responsible for devising school musical productions and/or coaching the school band.
Qualifications Required to Be a Good Harp Teacher:
A harp teacher you will find obviously needs a high level of technical ability on his instrument. But perhaps the most important things are a passion for music (and the instrument) and a way to communicate that. Enthusiasm is infectious, and the more you feel for the instrument, the faster you'll learn and progress.
That said, someone who's been taught the best methods of teaching will be able to do his job most effectively, as long as the other factors are in place. Remember, you're employing this person to do a job, and the better it's done, the happier everyone will be.
